A Trip to Kanazawa

This is a local mascot of Kanazawa called “Hyakumansan”. Please find it when you go to Kanazawa!

Thank you for visiting our website. This is Yoko from iTWS japan. I took a trip to Kanazawa with my daughter last week. Kanazawa is one of the most famous sightseeing places in Japan, and located near the Sea of Japan. We took a bullet train so that we could get to there about 2 and a half hours. It was very fast and very comfortable in the train.

Kenrokuen, a strolling-style landscape garden, is one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan. You can find ponds, hills, tea houses on the wide scale. Since it is November, it is a good season to see autumn leaves. The trees receive special care to prevent the branches from breaking, because Kanazawa is known for heavy snowfall.

When it comes to Kanazawa, I want to introduce “gold leaf”. Arts and crafts with gold leaf are very gorgeous. You can enjoy experiencing gold leaf painting at some shops. Moreover, you can buy ice cream, sweets, sake, and so on with gold leaf sprinkles.

I also want you to visit “21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art” during your stay. “Kaga Yuzen” which is one of the historical dyeing techniques for kimono is a motif of this wall. It’s beautiful, isn’t it?

After that, we visited “Omicho Market” that is food market located in central Kanazawa. It is known as “Kanazawa Kitchen”. You can find delicious foods such as seafood, crabs, vegetables, fruits, and so on. It was fun to walk around.

You can’t miss fresh seafood! We had delicious seafood rice bowl. Assorted fresh sashimi on the rice is soooooo good!

Do you want to go to Kanazawa?
Thank you for reading. Have a nice week!
