Solemn Naritasan Shinshoji Temple and a Pleasant Park!

Thank you for visiting our website.  This is Yoko from iTWS japan. Well, February 3rd of this year was “Setsubun”. But do you know what it is?

“Setsubun” is one of Japanese traditional events held to pray for our happy and healthy life. On Setsubun day, people throw roasted soy beans while saying “Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!” that means “Devils out! Fortunes in!”

Well, there is a temple that is famous for Setsubun event in Chiba prefecture, located in east side of Tokyo. Naritasan Shinsyoji Temple is a large temple which is very close to Narita International Airport, and many people visit there all year around.

My friend and I went to the temple the other day for New Year’s visit. It was very crowded in spite of late January. We actually wanted to see the Goma Prayer ceremony, but changed the plan because there were too many people in the temple. After praying, we took a walk in Naritasan Park on the same premises. It was very cold, but the air was so clear. I felt very good! The waterfall in the park is believed as a spiritual spot. So we are fully charged!!!

By the way, Narita is also famous for eel. There are a lot of eel restaurants along the approach, and they are very busy! You have to wait for several hours at some restaurants!

This is grilled eel on the rice. Smells sooooo good and really tasty!

I also bought an amulet at the temple. It is a thankful amulet that Fudo Myoo will protect you from all kinds of disasters. So this year is perfect for me!

Thank you for reading. Have a nice week!
